The University of Porto With origins in the 18th century, the University of Porto is one of the most
prestigious of Portugal and thus recognized worldwide.
In 2014, more than 3,000 foreign students chose UP to study or perform research projects.
The university is divided into 3 university poles
- Polo I – City Center
- Polo II – Asprela
- Polo III – Campo Alegre
Accommodation
The university has 9 university residences:

- University Residence of Paranhos (mixed)
- Jayme Rios de Sousa University Residence (mixed)
- Alberto Amaral University Residence (mixed)
- University Residence José Novais Barbosa (mixed)
- University Residence Campo Alegre I
- University Residence Campo Alegre III (mixed)
- University Residence Campo Alegre 2010
The nine residences have the capacity to accommodate 1190 students. The application for the residences should be fair through the SASUP website.
food
The food units of the SAUP count with 11 canteens, 1 restaurant, 1 grill, 6
snack bars and 1 café that is available to students. All units
quality food at a low cost (€ 2.50 per meal).
In the canteens, the lunches are served between 12:00 and 14:00, two of them
(Cantina of the Faculty of Arts and Cantina of the Faculty of Economics, are open
also for dinner, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.).
Libraries
All the faculties of the University of Porto have their library, catalogs
respective areas of knowledge.
All the information about the operation and updated hours can be consulted
on each college website. All libraries change their time
school holidays and breaks during the month of August.
